All praise belongs to Allah Almighty, the Rabb of every world, who — out of His infinite mercy — sent unto His creation the most beloved of His beloveds, Sayyidul Mursaleen Hadrat Muhammad (Sall Allahu Alayhi Wa Aalihi Wa Sallam), the Chief Prince of every past Prophet and Messenger, the Seal of Prophethood, the Mercy for all the worlds, and the very reason for the creation of the heavens and the earth. His blessed noor was the first light that shone from the treasury of the Divine, and from that single sacred noor Allah Almighty fashioned all that exists. The universe is His guest, time is His shadow, and every breath of every believer is a humble offering at the doorstep of his majestic dignity.

The Dignity and Sanctity of the Holy Prophet (SAWAW)

The dignity of Hadrat Muhammad (Sall Allahu Alayhi Wa Aalihi Wa Sallam) is beyond the reach of pen, tongue and imagination. Kings bowed at the mention of his name, mountains softened at the touch of his blessed feet, trees leaned toward him in longing, the moon obeyed his gesture, and the very stones of the desert offered him salaam. He is the intercessor whose intercession Allah Almighty Himself has promised to accept, the Master of the Praised Station (Maqaam-e-Mahmood), and the first to cross the Bridge on the Day of Judgement. His sanctity is such that Allah Almighty took an oath by his blessed life in the Holy Qur'an, and sent Salaat and Salaam upon him along with His angels — an honour granted to no other being in all creation. To love him is the completion of faith; to disrespect him, in the smallest measure, is the ruin of it.

The Holy Ahle Bait Athaar (Alaihimus Salaat-o-Wassalam)

From the blessed household of the Holy Prophet (Sall Allahu Alayhi Wa Aalihi Wa Sallam) — the Ahle Bait Athaar — Allah Almighty has, by His eternal decree, "removed every impurity and purified them with a perfect purification." Their noor is an extension of his noor, their knowledge is a river from his ocean, and their love is the surest sign of the love of Allah and His Messenger. To honour them is to honour the Holy Prophet himself; to turn away from them is to turn away from the very heart of Deen.

Hadrat Maula Ali-ul-Murtaza (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam)

The blessed chain of the Ahle Bait shines first through Hadrat Maula Ali-ul-Murtaza (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam) — the cousin, the son-in-law, the brother-in-faith and the beloved of the Holy Prophet (SAWAW). He is the Holy Door of the Holy City of Knowledge, the Lion of Allah, the Commander of the Faithful, and the one whose hand Allah's Messenger raised at Ghadeer-e-Khum declaring: "Of whomsoever I am the Master, Ali is his Master." Every stream of authentic spiritual knowledge (Ilm-e-Ladunni) that flows in the Ummah flows through this blessed Gate.

Such is his exalted dignity that on the Day of Judgement, when the Holy Prophet (Sall Allahu Alayhi Wa Aalihi Wa Sallam) shall be seated upon the Chair of Maqaam-e-Mahmood — raised to a height far beyond what any creation could imagine — the Banner of Praise (Liwa-ul-Hamd) shall be held aloft in the blessed hands of Hadrat Maula Ali-ul-Murtaza (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam). Beneath the shade of that sacred banner shall gather every Prophet, every Messenger, every Siddiq, every Shaheed and every righteous believer, from the first of creation to the last. About him, the Holy Prophet (Sall Allahu Alayhi Wa Aalihi Wa Sallam) declared: "Ya Ali! None but a true believer (Momin) shall love you, and none but a hypocrite (Munafiq) shall hate you." Thus, the love of Hadrat Ali (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam) is the very touchstone of faith itself — the measure by which every heart is weighed in the sight of Almighty Allah and His Beloved Messenger (SAWAW).

Hadrat Syeda Fatima-tuz-Zahrah (Salam Allahu Alaiha)

The Chief Princess of the Universes and of Jannah, the Holy Daughter of the Holy Prophet (SAWAW), Hadrat Syeda Fatima-tuz-Zahrah (Salam Allahu Alaiha) is the Leader of the Women of Paradise. She is called Zahrah — the Radiant — because her blessed noor illuminates the celestial worlds. Her pleasure is the pleasure of the Holy Prophet (SAWAW), and her displeasure is his displeasure; and his pleasure and displeasure are the pleasure and displeasure of Almighty Allah Himself. Through her blessed womb, Allah Almighty preserved the sacred lineage of Prophethood in the form of the Imams of guidance.

Hadrat Syed Imam Hassan-al-Mujtaba (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam)

The elder blessed grandson of the Holy Prophet (SAWAW), Hadrat Syed Imam Hassan-al-Mujtaba (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam), is the "Chosen One" — a fragrance of Prophethood, gentle in speech, majestic in bearing, and the very image of his noble grandfather. The Holy Prophet (SAWAW) placed him upon his blessed shoulder and declared him a Leader of the Youth of Paradise. His forbearance, his generosity and his sacrifice for the preservation of Muslim blood remain a light for every seeker of peace and truth.

Hadrat Syed Imam Hussain (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam)

The younger blessed grandson, Hadrat Syed Imam Hussain (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam), is the Chief of the Martyrs and the second Leader of the Youth of Paradise. The Holy Prophet (SAWAW) said: "Hussain is from me and I am from Hussain." At Karbala, he offered his blessed self, his household and his beloved companions so that the Deen of his grandfather would remain pure until the Day of Judgement. His sacred stand is the eternal proof that truth cannot be defeated by numbers, and that the honour of Islam is preserved through love, patience and unwavering witness.

The Twelve True Leaders of the Abstainers

After Hadrat Imam Hussain (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam), Allah Almighty continued the blessed chain of pure guidance through his noble descendants — the Twelve True Leaders (Imams) of the Abstainers, upon each of whom be Salaat-o-Wassalam:

  1. Hadrat Imam Ali-ul-Murtaza (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam)
  2. Hadrat Imam Hassan-al-Mujtaba (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam)
  3. Hadrat Imam Hussain ibn Ali (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam)
  4. Hadrat Imam Ali Zain-ul-Aabideen (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam)
  5. Hadrat Imam Muhammad Baqir (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam)
  6. Hadrat Imam Ja'far as-Saadiq (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam)
  7. Hadrat Imam Musa al-Kaazim (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam)
  8. Hadrat Imam Ali ar-Ridha (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam)
  9. Hadrat Imam Muhammad at-Taqi al-Jawaad (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam)
  10. Hadrat Imam Ali an-Naqi al-Haadi (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam)
  11. Hadrat Imam Hassan al-Askari (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam)
  12. Hadrat Imam Muhammad al-Mahdi (Alaihi Salaat-o-Wassalam)

Each of these blessed personalities is a lamp lit from the single lantern of Prophetic noor. They were the abstainers — those whose hearts turned away from the passing shadow of this world and became mirrors for the light of the Beloved. Their dignity is such that the angels envied the dust of their doorsteps, and their sanctity is such that Allah Almighty Himself protected their tongues, their hands and their hearts from every trace of impurity. Through them the pure knowledge of Deen — the outward Shariah and the inward Haqeeqah — reached the Ummah in an unbroken, luminous chain.

Their knowledge was not gathered from books alone, nor earned through the exhaustion of study; it was transferred into their blessed hearts directly by Almighty Allah, through the noor of the Holy Prophet (SAWAW), in accordance with the Divine promise: "Fear Allah, and Allah will teach you." What scholars pursue for lifetimes, these blessed Imams received in a single glance from their sacred forefather. Their inner vision witnessed realities that reason cannot approach; their speech carried wisdom that no philosophy could contain; and their silence was itself an ocean of guidance for those with hearts to see.

To love these blessed personalities is to walk the path of the Holy Prophet (Sall Allahu Alayhi Wa Aalihi Wa Sallam) himself, for he declared: "I leave among you two weighty things — the Book of Allah and my Ahle Bait; hold fast to them and you shall never go astray." May Almighty Allah, out of His endless mercy, count us among the true lovers of His Beloved and of his blessed household, grant us the adab of their sanctity, and allow us to drink — even a single drop — from the sacred ocean of knowledge that He entrusted to their pure hearts. Aameen, bi jaahi Sayyidil Mursaleen (Sall Allahu Alayhi Wa Aalihi Wa Sallam).
